Today's Ideas:
for afternoon of Wed Jan. 16, 2008

IMPORTANT: Below is what we're looking at currently, but pay attention to our UPDATES on the side of each page for actual entry/exit times and prices. Refresh pages often! You will witness our winners AND losers; something that is rare in our business.    TO VERIFY ACTUAL PRICES AND TIMES, PLEASE CLICK ON  A TICKER ENTRY TO THE RIGHT.  ALL TRADES, WHEN THEY OCCURED, ARE VIEWABLE.

Whenever possible, we have included the ETF symbol for those who are not experienced trading futures, etc.

Position update as of 12:10 pm:

Long 4 units SB (Sugar avg. price .10701)

Solid opportunities for short term trades today. We did well, but not nearly as well as we should have. Timing into several positions was ok, with us going long NQ, long UYG (financial etf) and short ZB. The short bond position was a little early, but we we also able to add on another subsequent sell signal.

All in all, we traded into the positions well. However we let the recent market action and moods affect our exits. We were nicely profitable, and took the profits at the first weak exit signal. Although this is not bad in itself, our system requires we re-enter for the full move, which we did not. We would have been much better off just staying in, if we weren't going to re-enter. As we type here, our profits would already be 3x what we actually realized. This illustrates the importance of discipline. We wouldn't be surprised to see these trades become home runs! Lesson learned, and now re-learned. Improvement is necessary all the time. Not sure when we might get to buy these back.

On a better note, Sugar is marching strongly higher. After several days of consolidation, it appears to be the strongest of all the commodities. We have not gotten a signal to add, but let's keep an eye out for some activity in the near future. We'll get a signal to either add, or take some units off very soon. Good luck and stay disciplined.

We encourage any questions and comments on how to improve our site, and hope you find it useful.  This is a great business, but the learning curve can really take awhile as most successful traders don't have any reason to share ideas.  This site is our way of giving back to the trading arenas, in the name of the few mentors we found that helped us along the way.  Good luck.

We don't always have the time to explain the reasoning for trades, but they are often a combination of technical, fundamental, and "gut feel".  Pay attention, have fun, and make money!
